The UCHC weblog archives begin with Monday, November 24, 2003 and continue to be updated daily. Scanning this weblog will allow UCHC library users to keep up with the daily happenings in the UCHC library’s electronic resources world. Look for announcements of newly activated electronic resources for users, changes in e-journal holdings and URL’s, technical glitches with established e-resources and their respective platforms and subsequent resolutions of glitches, as well as new developments at each e-resource publisher’s sites.

Weblogs and blogging first made an appearance on the technology stage in early 1997 and have continued an exponential growth pattern. While early weblogs were created by people who knew how to create websites, there are now hundreds of build –your –own weblog tools and free hosting sites available. Weblog styles range from a simple “filter-style”, consisting of a list of weblinks with commentary to “journal style”, into which the blogger posts a passing thought or an extended essay.

The vast amounts of weblogs created have lead to the creation of weblog searching tools and categorized listing sites. A great site to begin your journey into the weblog world is Peter Scotts WEBLOGS COMPENDIUM at the following URL :

Peter Scott has many great sections in his resources compendium, including, bloghosting, blog tools, definitions, directories, news sources and RSS feeds, tools to enable the searching for available blogs to read and much more.
