Two
online products to help users find information on currently published
books and journals have been made available to UCHC personnel in a cooperative
effort between the L.M. Stowe Library, at the UCONN Health Center and
the Homer Babbidge Library, on UCONN’s main campus in Storrs.
Books
in Print Online
Books in Print Online (BIP for short) lists over 5 million book, audio
book & video titles , making BooksInPrint.com the largest unbiased
bibliographic resource available. 30,000 Full Text Previews lets you read
excerpts from titles, 140,000 Tables of Contents gives you snapshots of
titles, and 700,000 Reviews help you find the perfect fit.
An advanced search option with over 30 search criteria lets you find exactly
what you're looking for, down to the last detail. Sign up for BIP
ALERT and receive an e-mail alert whenever titles that match
your personalized saved search criteria are released.
Over 200,000 Publishers are represented in BIP online, click in and view
publishers catalogs online at the publishers
home pages. Here you can locate hard to find specialty publishers
and their unique offerings, find author information and link to the publisher’s
own website. BookWire
is THE comprehensive online portal into the book industry, with articles
on the latest industry news, access to literary journals and reviews,
and an expansive directory of book sites around the world. Named one of
the 101 best websites for writers for the 3rd consecutive year in a row
by Writer's Digest!
Looking for non-medical fare? BIP online has award
listings where users may search/browse winners and finalists
from the book industry's top 400 awards, as far back as 1909. And be sure
to check out the
Bestseller Lists, where users may search/browse lists as
far back as 1895.

Ulrich’s
Periodical Directory Online
Ulrich’s Periodical Directory Online provides detailed, comprehensive,
and authoritative information on over 250,000 serials published throughout
the world. It covers all subjects, and includes publications that are
published regularly or irregularly and are circulated free of charge or
by paid subscription.
Two levels of search options are available, with criteria limits that
let you find exactly what you are looking for. Referreed, electronic and
open access journals are also noted in the detailed journals descriptions.
Electronic journals have URL’s linking users directly to the publishers’
sites. Since many of UCONN libraries e-journal subscriptions are direct
to the publisher by IP address authentication, UCHC users will be able
to click through to the home page of the journals.
Web users of Ulrich’s have access to the latest data on a weekly
basis.
