Proxy Service - EZproxy

Maynard Stowe library offers a proxy service which allows you to access
the Electronic Resources normally restricted by UCHC IP , e.g., UCHC
Electronic Journals, Electronic Textbooks, and Databases
from off-campus sites. Accounts on the proxy server can be obtained by
faculty, staff, and students at the University of Connecticut Health Center;
and faculty, staff, graduate students, and some categories of undergraduate
students from the University of Connecticut.
Our new EZproxy service has been live since Monday, July 26. It is much
easier to use than the old proxy. All you need is a library barcode on
your health center badge and an internet connection. You are no longer
required to configure your browser. The new proxy server will also allow
you to access Library resources from UCHC affiliated hospitals which have
firewall issues, e.g., Hartford Hospital and New Britain General Hospital.
Please allow at least three business days to activate your account. Here
is how it works.
From any off-campus location:
·
Go to the library website at http://library.uchc.edu
and navigate the website as usual.
· If you select a resource restricted by UCHC IP, you will be
prompted for a password.
A sample login screen is shown below.

· When prompted, please enter your 14-digit library barcode number
(without spaces) from the back of your UCHC ID for Password.
· You will be automatically transferred to the resource you selected.
If you are accessing library online resources on campus, you will not
have to go through the login process.
To access full-text electronic resources within the online catalog, go
to the Library Catalog on the Library Website. Click on the red button
"Off-Campus Proxy". Click on Library Catalog link.
We
will keep the old proxy server running for a few months so that you can
remove the previous UCHC Proxy Settings from your browser. Instructions
on removing the proxy settings are located at http://library.uchc.edu/proxy/remove.html
To get the proxy prompt so that you can access the full-text journals,
you need to follow the links on the library website. For example, the
URL for PubMed on the library website is "http://online.uchc.edu/login?url=http://libdatabase.uchc.edu/databases/linktracker.asp?ID=63".
You can also paste "http://online.uchc.edu/login?url=" in front
of the original URL, e.g., "http://online.uchc.edu/login?url=
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov.online.uchc.edu/entrez/query.fcgi?holding=uchclib".
For more details please go to our Proxy Information site at http://library.uchc.edu/proxy/.
